Save as PDF
Learn how to export Google Docs™, Google Slides™, and Google Sheets™ as PDFs, including quick export, separate-file export, ZIP downloads, and Google Drive save options.
Saving a Google Docs™, Google Slides™, or Google Sheets™ file as a PDF should be straightforward, but built-in export options often fall short when you need cleaner output, scope control, or more flexible delivery options.
The Text To Table Converter add-on gives you two PDF export paths:
- Quick Export to PDF for a fast one-click PDF download
- Export with Options... when you want to control scope, output grouping, and delivery
Quick Export to PDF
Use quick export when you want the fastest possible PDF download.
- Open the quick export action
Use the add-on menu at Extensions > Text To Table Converter > PDF & Image Tools > Quick Export to PDF.
Note: In the sidebar, the same quick export flow appears inside PDF & Image Tools with host-specific labels such as Export Document as PDF, Export Presentation as PDF, or Export Spreadsheet as PDF.
- Wait for the export to finish
The add-on generates the PDF and downloads it directly in your browser.
- Optionally save the same result to Drive
In the sidebar quick export flow, you can also save the exported PDF to Google Drive after export.
Tip: After a successful Drive save, that same exported result cannot be saved again from the follow-up action.
What Quick Export Supports
- Google Docs™: quick PDF export for the document
- Google Slides™: quick PDF export for the presentation
- Google Sheets™: quick PDF export for the spreadsheet
- Quick export uses a single-file PDF flow
- If you need scope selection, separate files, ZIP delivery, or advanced output choices, use Export with Options...
Export with Options for More Control
Use Export with Options... when you need to choose exactly what gets exported and how the files are delivered.
- Open Export with Options
Open Export with Options... from the add-on menu or from the PDF & Image Tools sidebar section.
- Choose the export scope
Depending on the app you are using, select what should be exported:
- Docs: all tabs, current tab, or selected tabs
- Slides: all slides, current slide, or selected slides
- Sheets: all worksheets, current worksheet, or selected worksheets
- Choose the output grouping
Select whether to create one combined export or separate files:
- Docs: one file or one file per tab
- Slides: single PDF or separate PDF per slide
- Sheets: single PDF or separate PDF per worksheet
- Choose the output
Pick one of the available destinations:
- Download
- Save to Google Drive
- Open in PDF Editor where supported
- Run export
Click Export to create the output files.
- Receive the exported files
Delivery depends on the export mode:
- Single-file download: downloads the exported file directly
- Separate-file download: downloads one ZIP containing all exported files
- Drive save for separate exports: creates a new export subfolder and saves each file into it
Note: In Google Docs™, advanced export also supports additional formats such as DOCX, RTF, ODT, EPUB, HTML (zip), and TXT.
Separate PDF Export
The advanced export flow can now create separate files instead of one combined PDF:
- Docs: one file per tab
- Slides: one PDF per slide
- Sheets: one PDF per worksheet
This is useful when you want to archive, review, or share each exported item separately without repeating the export flow multiple times.
Note: When you save a PDF export to Google Drive from the sidebar, the result UI can include follow-up actions such as opening the saved file, opening the destination folder, or sending the saved PDF to the PDF Editor.
Working with Large Docs Files: If your Google Docs™ file has more than 30 tabs, quick export can show a "Too many Tabs" error. In that case, switch to Export with Options... and choose a smaller tab selection or another export approach that fits your document.
Which Method Should You Use?
- Use Quick Export to PDF when you want a fast single PDF download.
- Use Export with Options... when you need scope selection, separate exports, ZIP delivery, Google Drive save options, or PDF Editor handoff.
