Export with Options

Export with Options is the advanced export flow in the add-on. It lets you control what gets exported, how the files are grouped, and where the result goes.

It supports:

• Google Docs™: PDF, and also DOCX, RTF, ODT, EPUB, HTML (zip), and TXT
• Google Slides™: PDF with slide-based scope, plus optional speaker notes as TXT
• Google Sheets™: PDF with worksheet-based scope
• One combined file or separate files
• Download in browser, Save to Google Drive™, and a handoff to PDF Split & Merge

If you only need the fastest possible PDF, use Quick Export.

Where to Find It#

• Docs sidebar: PDF & Image Tools > Export as PDF > Export with Options
• Slides sidebar: PDF & Image Tools > Export as PDF > Export PDF with Options
• Sheets sidebar: PDF & Image Tools > Export as PDF > Export Spreadsheet PDF with Options
• Extensions menu: Extensions > Text To Table Converter > PDF & Image Tools > Export Document. This is the menu name for the same flow. Only the sidebar button uses the "Export with Options" wording.

How to Use It#

1. Open the export panel

Click the button for your app (see above). The panel opens in the sidebar.

2. Choose the scope
   • Docs: All tabs, Current tab, or Selected tabs
   • Slides: All slides, Current slide, or Selected slides
   • Sheets: All worksheets, Current worksheet, or Selected worksheets

3. Choose the output grouping
   • Docs: Single file or Separate file per tab
   • Slides: Single file or Separate PDF per slide
   • Sheets: Single file or Separate PDF per worksheet

In Docs, exporting several selected tabs as one file works for PDF only. Other formats need one tab or separate files.

4. Set the format and PDF options (Docs)
   • Format: PDF, DOCX, RTF, ODT, EPUB, HTML, or TXT
   • Do not create tab title pages: on by default. It makes one continuous document.
   • Use Fast Processing: uses a faster export method with one paper size for all tabs.
   • Add page numbers
   • Save current settings as default: remembers your choices in this browser.

5. Choose the output
   • Download in browser
   • Save to Google Drive™: choose a folder with Open Folder Selector
   • Open in PDF Split & Merge (see below)

6. Click Start export

Wait for the progress messages to finish.

7. Receive the files
   • A single file downloads directly.
   • Separate files download as one ZIP.
   • With Save to Google Drive™, a single file goes into the folder you picked. Separate files go into a new export subfolder.

After a Drive save, the result offers follow-up actions such as opening the file or folder, copying the URL, and renaming the file. You can save an export to Drive once.

Open in PDF Split & Merge#

The handoff sends a single PDF to PDF Split & Merge.

• Docs: tick Open in PDF Split & Merge after export. It works with PDF, Download in browser, and Single file.
• Slides and Sheets: pick Open in PDF Split & Merge as the output. The add-on saves the PDF to Drive first, so you need to choose a Drive folder. The option is disabled when you pick separate PDFs.

Separate Files#

When you choose a separate file per tab, slide, or worksheet:

• Download in browser gives you one ZIP with all files.
• Save to Google Drive™ creates a new subfolder and saves each file into it.
• Options that need one PDF are unavailable, such as the PDF Split & Merge handoff and speaker notes.

Slides Speaker Notes#

Tick Export speaker notes as TXT to export the notes with the slides. This works in single-PDF mode only. A download becomes a ZIP with the PDF and the TXT file inside.

Large Docs Files#

• Quick Export is blocked above 30 tabs.
• In Export with Options, the 30-tab limit applies only when Do not create tab title pages is on. Untick it, or choose Separate file per tab, to export larger documents.

Which One Should You Use?#

• Use Export with Options when you need scope selection, separate files, ZIP delivery, Drive folder choice, other Docs formats, or the PDF Split & Merge handoff.
• Use Quick Export when you want the fastest possible single PDF.
