Rotate Table Right

The Rotate Table Right feature allows you to quickly rotate your selected table(s) 90 degrees clockwise. This rearranges the orientation of your data, turning rows into columns.

This tool works seamlessly across Google Docs™, Google Slides™, and Google Sheets™.

What is Rotating a Table Right?#

Rotating a table right means turning it 90 degrees clockwise. The content of the original top row becomes the content of the new leftmost column (reading top-to-bottom), the second row becomes the second column from the left, and so on. Effectively, the top-left cell moves to the top-right position.

How to Rotate a Table Right#

Follow these simple steps to rotate your table(s) right:

1. Select the Table(s)

Place your cursor inside the table you want to rotate, or select the entire table. You can also select multiple tables.

2. Open the Tool

In the sidebar, choose Tables & Convert > Modify selected table > Rotate Table Right. You can also use the Extensions menu: Navigate to Extensions > Text To Table Converter > Modify Table. Click on Rotate Table Right.

3. View the Result

In Google Docs™, the rotated table is added as a new table at the end of the document. In Google Slides™, it is added as a new table on the same slide and may sit on top of the original. In both cases the original table stays where it was, so delete it if you no longer need it. In Google Sheets™, the result is written in place, starting at the same top-left cell. If the new shape would overwrite other data, the add-on asks whether to overwrite it or put the result on a new sheet.
