Fix Grammar and Spelling

Easily correct grammar and spelling mistakes in your document using the Text To Table Converter Add-On in Google Docs™, Google Slides™, and Google Sheets™.

The Text To Table Converter Add-On includes powerful AI proofreading tools. With a single click, you can fix grammar, spelling, and punctuation mistakes in selected text or entire tables directly within Google Docs™, Google Slides™, and Google Sheets™.

This feature is also excellent for language learners, providing a fast way to correct sentences and instantly see the improvements.

AI usage: Each run uses one AI request. The free plan includes 25 AI requests every 30 days; Pro is unlimited. AI Permission in Settings must allow AI.

Correcting Plain Text#

Use this feature to improve any selected text, from a single sentence to multiple paragraphs.

  1. Select the Text

Highlight the text within your document that you wish to correct.

Example Text with Errors:

  1. Apply Correction

Use either:

  • Sidebar: Extensions > Text To Table Converter > ⚡ Launch Sidebar, then open Writing Tools > Selection Conversions > Fix Grammar & Spelling
  • Menu: Extensions > Text To Table Converter > Selection Conversions > Fix Grammar & Spelling > Fix Grammar and Spelling
  1. Review the Corrected Text

The corrected version of your text is inserted directly below your original selection for easy comparison.

Resulting Corrected Text:

Available Correction Tools#

While Fix Grammar & Spelling is the most common choice, the sidebar and the Fix Grammar & Spelling submenu offer several focused tools:

  • Fix Grammar & Spelling: The comprehensive option that corrects all issues at once.
  • Fix Grammar: Focuses only on grammatical structure and sentence flow.
  • Fix Spelling: Corrects only spelling mistakes.
  • Fix Punctuation: Standardizes commas, periods, capitalization, and other punctuation.

Correcting Text within Tables#

You can apply the same AI corrections to text inside your tables. The add-on processes the text in each cell and creates a new, corrected table. Your original table is not changed.

  1. Select the Table

Position your cursor inside the table you wish to correct, or select the entire table.

Selection in Google Sheets™: In Google Sheets™, you must select the specific range of cells that contains the data you want to correct.

  1. Apply Correction

Use the same sidebar or menu path and select your desired correction type (e.g., Fix Grammar & Spelling).

  1. Review the New Table

A new table with the corrected text keeps the original structure. In Google Docs™, the new table is added at the end of the document. In Google Slides™, it is placed at the top-left of the slide, on top of other content. In Google Sheets™, the result goes to a new worksheet named Fixed Grammar and Spelling.
